Acoustic Compression Therapy
at Well Adjusted Chiropractic

If sore, stubborn pain keeps holding you back, whether you’re an athlete, busy parent, or have tried everything for an old injury, you deserve real answers and relief. Well Adjusted Chiropractic is pleased to offer Acoustic Compression Therapy (ACT), also known as shockwave therapy. This modality is a safe, modern solution for persistent soft tissue pain.

Dr. Weiss brings deep community roots, real-world sports experience, and advanced technology together to help you finally heal—not just cope.

NEW PATIENTS

How Does ACT (Shockwave) Work?

ACT uses focused sound waves, far more concentrated than those used in ultrasound, to penetrate deep into muscles, ligaments, and even bone, up to 6 cm. below the surface, right where problem tissue hides. For healthy spots, you’ll hardly feel a thing; but where scar tissue or old injuries lurk, you’ll feel that classic “hurts so good” sensation, just like an intense massage on a tight muscle.

The session breaks up stubborn scar tissue your body developed when an injury heals improperly, increases blood flow, and prompts your system to rebuild stronger, healthier tissue, so healing can finally happen.

What Conditions Can It Help With?

ACT is a leading choice for athletes and everyday people, especially when other options fall short. Our chiropractor may recommend ACT for the following:

  • Plantar fasciitis (heel/foot pain)
  • Chronic shoulder pain and overuse injuries
  • Tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow
  • Hip, buttock, and glute pain
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger
  • Hamstring, quadriceps, and calf injuries
  • Neck, low back, and mid-back pain
  • Knee arthritis, bone spurs, and post-surgical scar tissue

Dr. Weiss has advanced training in both shockwave therapy and spinal decompression, and has been offering ACT to the Spring Lake community since 2002, helping many people get relief when other care failed.

Why Choose Us for Care?

When you need relief, trust a chiropractor with proven results and deep community roots. ACT is a favorite among pro athletes for rapid recovery. Sessions are usually short-term; once the old injury is healed, repeat care isn’t needed unless you have new or repetitive-use issues.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ACT (shockwave therapy) painful?

Not really; most people only feel discomfort over damaged or scarred tissue, and it’s usually described as a “good pain,” similar to deep tissue massage. Most patients tolerate sessions well, and the pressure can be adjusted to make it comfortable for you. After the appointment, patients often feel relief, increased mobility, or less soreness.

How many sessions are needed?

Many patients notice improvement in four to six sessions; chronic or severe injuries may need a bit more time. Session frequency is based on your progress and condition. Your doctor will monitor and adjust as needed for your best results.

Can ACT be used after surgery?

Yes! ACT can break up scar tissue and help restart normal healing, even after knee, hip, or shoulder surgeries that didn’t heal quite right. It also supports recovery and helps restore function when traditional healing is incomplete. Many post-surgery patients find significant improvements with this option.
